got problem with wireless conection in HP Pavillon dv7 (Atheros ar9285 adapter) with windows 7 64bit.
Whenever i'm more than 3-4 meters away from router or behind wall, connection breaks even when signal strength is very good. Problem affects only my hp notebook. Got no problem with phone, two older notebooks (win xp, one with built in wifi adapter one with old crappy pentagram external usb wifi card) and palmtop connection. Adapter drivers are up to date, so are router drivers. Router is Dlink dir-615. Where's problem?

I have the same problem with a DV7 with a broadcom internal wireless card. I have had the card replaced twice with 2 more broadcom internal wireless cards ( you get what they send you can not specify a brand) and also had the laptop shipped back to H\P. Of course when it was shipped back to HP it worked just fine, but here at home the wireless performance is random. I bought the laptop March 1 2011 and I am still trying to get this fixed. As a work around I bought an external usb wifi card. I use speedtest to measure the throughput and it is very random with the DV7 while on my 4 year old HP laptop I have no issues, it consistently maxes out at the 10 Mbps of my cable service. Likewise my brand new IPAD2 works flawlessly and it too is 10 Mbps. Of course HP claims to not be aware of any wi fi issues with the DV7. I have a 4 year old dynex router that is just a G router, I dont have an N router yet. For what I need G is sufficient, I dont stream video.
