unable to send or receive files via bluetooth

I have a HP Pavilion dv6500 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Ultimate and I was able to successfully pair my HTC Freestyle phone with the PC.  I tried to receive a file from my phone to my PC, but when my phone connects with the PC, it starts to send the file to the PC, but after getting to 60%, I get an error message that says that the connection failed and on the PC, it tells me to go back and try again.  I tried many, many times, but I keep getting the same message.  No files are received by the PC.  Can someone help me figure what's going wrong?
