Re: upgrading wifi card

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01573159.pdf

Supported wireless cards with HP part numbers can be found in Chapter 3 starting on page 3-5.

If you want a dual band (2.4 GHz/5.0 GHz) card, then you will want the Atheros AR9280 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module.

Make sure you get one with the HP part number on it or it will not work.

Also make sure you get the part number that works for the country you live in.

For example if you live in the USA or Canada you would need part # 482260-001

You can find bargains on eBay for used but tested and working wireless cards.

Do your search by the part number, not the model number!

If you want to buy a new one from HP, you can order it at the link below and enter the part # in the box.  $58.16 in the USA.

Re: upgrading wifi card

Hi, Darren:

Yes, for the UK, the Intel 5100 should work just fine with the part number you posted from the manual.

You will need to install drivers.

Below is the link to the latest drivers direct from Intel.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21143&ProdId=3062&lang=eng&OSVersion=...

You need the first download listed (driver only - 32 bit).

Please post back and let us know how the upgrade went for you.

Best Regards,

Paul
