want to replace wireless nic in dv5125us

Hello.  I have an HP Pavillion dv5215us, and would like to upgrade the wireless nic to an "N" series.  I have found the directions to do so, but have not been able to find the part here on the HP site.

I don't want a usb or pcmcia card, I want to replace the original nic.  Does anyone know what the part number would be?  And if I can buy it from HP.

Or is the site getpartsonline.com reputable?

Thank you

Re: want to replace wireless nic in dv5125us

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your PC.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00700959.pdf

Supported wireless cards are listed on Page 3-11.

There are no wireless N cards available for your model.

You can't install any card you want as HP has a BIOS lock out on any cards not listed.

The only cards that can be installed are the ones listed for each HP model and they must also have the specific HP part # on them as well.

Installing an unsupported card will cause the notebook to halt on boot until the card is removed.

The only way to bypass this is to modify the BIOS, and I have no idea how to do this.

Re: want to replace wireless nic in dv5125us

Well, shoot.  I had found one that was supposed to be for this model, too.  I love this laptop, and REALLY don't want to replace it.... I guess I'll just have to get a booster.

Thank you.

Re: want to replace wireless nic in dv5125us

You're very welcome.

Sorry I had to be the bearer of bad news.

But I don't like seeing folks get disappointed and lose money.
