wireless button amber. cannot connect to wireless devices

Notebook details:

HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC

P/N: WR867EA#ABU

OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)

Now to the nitty gritty...

I recently had my laptop repaired. For some reason once on the logon screen everything on the screen goes black. Long story short they changed the motherboard. Now for some reason i am unable to connect to any form of wireless device, seemingly because 1. there appears to be no wireless adapter showing under device manager and 2. the wirelss button 'f12' is stuck on amber.

I am able to connect to the internet via ethernet wire which is directly connected to my router. However, the whole point of having a wireless laptop is to...use it wirelessly? If i take the ethernet cable out i just get an 'x' over the network icon in notification area, indicating 'no available connections'. What worries me the most is that there is no wireless adapter appearing in device manager. Could the motherboard change over have affected this?

HP wireless assistant is proving to be problematic aswell. It indicates that the 'f12' button has disabled bluetooth but once i press the button and enable it...nothing changes. Still the same 'x' over the wireless assistant icon.

Any form advice would be greatly appreciated before i go and have a hissy fit at the people who "repaired" my laptop

Thank you
