I was going through and uninstalling a bunch of unwanted/old programs the other day and I believe I inadvertently deleted the HP wireless driver. There is no longer any reference to it under "manage network connections," and it appears there is no way to connect to a wireless network. Is this something I can re-install?

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit on an HP Pavilion dv6425ca.

Thanks in advance 😃

Hi,

This should be the driver for your wireless card.  Just download it, copy it to a USB or CD and then paste the installer on your laptops desktop.  Double click the installer to start the installation.

Also, in case your missing HP Wireless Assistant, it's on the next link.

Best wishes,

Hi:

This shouldn't be a problem to reinstall the wireless LAN driver and HP wireless assistant.

They can be found under "Network Drivers" in the link below:

Thanks for the quick replies. Unfortunately , I'm still having issues. Tried installing several times; said it worked but never showed up where I thought it should under Control Panel < Network Connections. Here's a screenshot. Should it not appear next to "Local Area Connection" at the top, or am I missing something? I believe it was there before.

Hi

I accidentally deleted my wireless driver i have an elitebook 8540w. Can you help please?

Thank you!

Hi, Sandra:

Please go to the device manager and because you deleted the driver for your wireless card, there should be a device labeled Network Controller, and it should have a little yellow ! mark beside it.

Click on the Network Controller. Then click on the Details tab.

Now you will see a Properties drop down list.

Drop down on that and select the second ite, (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters you see in the window.

Then I will post the link to the wireless drivers you need.

Hi:

If there is no device in the device manager listed separately as a network controller, then you didn't delete the driver for it.  Something else is wrong.

Click on the network adapters section of the device manager.

There should be two network devices listed...a wired network adapter and a wireless network adapter.

Please post the full model name and number of the wireless network adapter and I will post the link to the latest driver for it in case something is slightly goofy with the current driver.
