Signal Strength bars not working?

Brand new laptop Pavillion DV5.  In lower right of screen,  there is a set of vertical white  bars for wireless signal strenght.  Shouldnt these bars color in to reflect wireless signal strength?

I have excellent signal strength when I review the settings but the display is always all white bars.

Should I see signal strength as colored in bars?

Any tips on how to fix it?

thanks for the help

Re: Signal Strength bars not working?

Hi rkruz,

It would be a good idea to have some sort of colour scheme!!  However, what you're seeing is completely normal and so there's nothing to fix.

Best wishes,

Re: Signal Strength bars not working?

should not each of the vertical bars color in to the right with increaseing signal strength.  Every other PC I have used or owned has shown signal strenght like that.  What would be the purpose of the signal strength bars otherwise?

Re: Signal Strength bars not working?

Hi rkruz,

The white signal strength icon ( it will vary from 1 bar - low strength, to 5 bars - excellent strength ) is a Windows Operating System Icon and is always just White.  Probably what you have seen before is the Software User Interface often bundled with wireless cards.  This software will replace Windows strength icon with one of its own and is often coloured.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
