Thank you for responding @Malygris1

I have gone through each step on the link you posted, and it is still red X. It actually left me confused based on their examples and what I see.

My WLAN indicator is white, but I have no internet. Red X is difficult to see due to lighting, but X outline is visible. Their display shows that my WLAN indicator should be amber.

"The network status (connected) displays in Device Manager" Says I don't need a replacement showing what's in the image below. Need a map, because I'm lost.

Ok, since there is still an x over the wifi in the systray, and in device manager it shows as connected there is only one more thing you can try, after that it recommends servicing the unit.

From the process I gave you it recommens removing and reinstalling the wlan module, that involves some tools.

Take a look at the service manual for your notebook.

Compaq Presario CQ62 Notebook PC and HP G62 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide

You need to go to page 4-12 for the instructions on how to remove the WLAN module, but it will refer to other parts, as well. Follow the instructions carefully. This is to remove and reseat the card.

If after trying  this the problem remain then it is like the module is defective. In that case you have the option to get a replacement module for your notebook.  The fastest choice then may be to call in to phone support for the part at  800-474-6836.
