Hi:

If your notebook has an Atheros AR 5007 wireless card, then you need to install this driver.

You may have to uninstall the old driver first if just installing this driver doesn't change the driver version and date.

Yes it's a Atheros AR5007 WiFi Adapter. I tried your suggestion. Uninstalled the current driver. Installed the driver from your link above (It says Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WifFi Adapter is ready to use) and restarted laptop.IT WORKS! I have internet access. Thank You!

Thanks for quick reply Pual. I uninstalled previous driver from computer and tried to install the new one from the link. I get message "the contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file...."

I tried to download again assuming I the download was faulty but I get the same message with second attempt.

I have Compaq C700  795VU machine.

Thanks for your help.

You're very welcome.

I just ran the file and it worked fine for me.

Try this slightly older version and if that one doesn't work, then the problem is only on your end.

Hi:

If for some reason that file didn't work either, then try this...

Download and install this free file utility.  Either the 32 or 64 bit file as applicable.

http://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-zip, download the first driver file I posted (since I know it worked for me).   Don't run it.

Right click on the file and select 7-zip from the list of options.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the exe into the file name of the folder (sp54972).

After 7-zip has extracted the file into its folder, open the folder and double click to run the setup file you see (looks like a light blue 'A').

Thanks Paul

I was able to update driver with 7-zip extraction but still I am getting 'local only' issue. All other laptops and tablets are connected so the issue might be with Compaq laptop and not the router. The problem suddenly started today morning without any reason. Do you think if it would help to restore the system to last check point?
