I have exactly the same problem. It's driving me nuts. Did you get a solution? I can only connect via a cable right now.

Re: Wireless problem on hp pavilion g6 1016sq

I figured it out after 2 hours (grrr): Go to Control Panel, then Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Centre, then click on the left on "Change Adapter Settings". Right click "Wireless Network Connection" to enable it again. I hope it works!

Re: Wireless problem on hp pavilion g6 1016sq

I will suggest you to try following steps to solve this problem. It solved mine.
Open Control Panel in your laptop.
Click on Hardware and Sound
Choose Device Manager
Now you have to click on Network Adapters List
Select your network adapter.
After that you have to Right Click and Select Properties
Click on Power Management tab
Now you have to uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option.
click on OK.

Re: Wireless problem on hp pavilion g6 1016sq

Hi, I've found a soution, probably not a easy one, but it works 100%. First, I installed Windows 8, 64bit version. Then I tried to install wireless drivers, but without success. Then, from the need of wi-fi, I installed Windows 7, on another partition, to have part of dual boot. In Windows 7 I've installed all neccesary drivers, including wireless driver. Then I turned it on (the wireless F12). I rebooted, but this time selecting Windows 8. Wireless remained on, the blue led also on and I could in this way use wireless on Windows 8. To turn off the wireless, I must boot Windows 7 and turn it off, from F12. My laptop is a HP Pavilion G6 1016sq. Sorry for my english. :smileyhappy:

Re: Wireless problem on hp pavilion g6 1016sq

I just reinstalled my operating system and my wifi switch hasn't been working on the HP pavillion g6 I have tried all the remedies mentioned above but non worked.
If it helps I had to get a new hard drive for my computer is it something to do with that?
