netgear router R6200v2 won't work with wireless HP 6840 printer, but older netgear router does

My old netgear communicated with my HP 6840 wireless printer, but new netgear R6200v2 will not.

New router may have different security settings, you may need redo the printer wireless setup.

Also, the printer's wireless is G (802.11g), so make sure the router is set up to support G, not N only.

Do I need the printer cable for this or can I use an Ethernet cable?

Your printer do support LAN (ethernet), you can connect using one of the LAN port on the router.
