Re: AirPrint - how to use Apple's AirPrint solution on HP ePrint Printers

Hi,

I have an HP Photosmart Premium all-in-one eFax c410a printer which supposedly supports ePrint.

I checked under 'Preferences', and supposedly the latest updates are already active, according to my printer anyway.

I have ipad2 and ISP is xfinity-Comcast, and I believe the router is ARRIS TG852.

To start, I believe I'm having the same problem many are having, which is that my ipad doesn't 'see' my Airprint compatible printer.  I CAN print wirelessly to said printer from my hp laptop and my iMac.  Yes all are on my same WiFi network.  I also have iphone4, and it doesn't see/find the printer either.

Could the problem be needed firmware for my router-- if so, need to ask ISP how to get that?

Someone mentioned something about turning 'on' internet protocol printing, but don't see that option in printer menu?

Is there another way to get firmware update, other than to 'ask' your printer to 'look' for it through setup menu?

Another problem entirely??

I tried out ePrint from ipad (sent test message to printer email address), and that worked just fine.

I went to the Apple Airprint setu-up link you referenced, and other than finding my printer on list of compatible printers, no real help there.

I agree with other posters-- this is really frustrating, and didn't realize I'd have to be a computer 'whiz' to make this work!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: AirPrint - how to use Apple's AirPrint solution on HP ePrint Printers

The most common problem we see with Airprint is definately network problems.

There are just so many routers on the market, it is difficult to ensure functionality with all of them

Ensure you have Multicast enabled on your router - it is nessesary for the Bonjour service to function.

Though I work for HP, the opinons expressed here are my own

Per questo avrete bisogno di utilizzare qualcosa di ePrint e-mail che si desidera stampare al tuo indirizzo di posta elettronica della stampante. È necessario disporre di una stampante in grado ePrint per questo.

Re: AirPrint - how to use Apple's AirPrint solution on HP ePrint Printers

I went through all the steps outlined in the 12-06-11 post and my Photosmart D110 printer would print from my ipad2 when I was on the printer's HP wireless connection but not from my office wireless network. It worked fine on my office network up to a few weeks ago.  What's the next step?  Thanks.

The printer and iPad have to be on the same wifi network in order to use Airprint

Re: AirPrint - how to use Apple's AirPrint solution on HP ePrint Printers

Yes I understand and agree, thank you for your clear wording, I am a novice who at the age of 68 used a laptop for the first time. In order to AirPrint I have take my printer off automatic and manually insert the same IP address as my iPad2, or vice versa then I can airprint once after which my iPad changes it's IP. I do not know if it is a separate issue but my laptop Acer Aspire 5336 with Windows 7 will not install the printer's driver, I get the message, " Installing this device driver is not recommended, computer might become unstable or stop working completely."

Re: AirPrint - how to use Apple's AirPrint solution on HP ePrint Printers

Alright...so here's what I've leared from many hours of troubleshooting to get Airprint from an iPad to work with my multifunction HP printer:

#1 - Make sure "multicasting" feature is turned on the router

#2 - Make sure the "multicasting" rate is turned up.  My router (ASUS) had a setting in the Wireless -> Professional settings menu that allows you to set the megabytes per second transmission of the multicasting.  My router was set to "Auto", but Airprint was "hit or miss...mostly miss" UNTIL I set the Mbps to at least 36 Mbps.

With just multicasting turned on, it would get to print from my iPad or iPod two or three times and then my iPad would say "No Airprinters Found"!  It was not until I set this multcasting transmission up to at least 36 Mbps that it worked all the time.

Still haven't gotten ePrint to work yet, but ...one step at at time.
