Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

What program did you use to create the doc files, open office or word?

Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

That may be what is causing the issue.  Home and Biz is designed to read doc files form MS Word.  Doc files form other aplications could save in a slightly different encode pattern or language, which would cause the app to get confused and fail to print those doc files.

Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

A way to test if it will print MS Word doc files, would be to save one to your phone and try to print it using the Home and Biz app.  If that does not work, let me know and I will see what I can find.

Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

I am new to Android so let me tell you exactly what I did. I copied a MS Word doc file onto a USB thumb device. On my Android tablet I went into File Manager and selected the USB icon. From there I selected the MS Word file I had copied and it gave me a page that said "select the type of file". I selected Text. This led to a page saying "Complete action using". I selected HP ePrint Home&Business. After performing a function "Rendering File" it gave me a message "Error Unable to process your request now. Please try again later".

If I had selected a pdf file from the USB device it would print.

If I had selected Photo and then a jpg file, it would print.

I'm stuck.

Thanks for any help you might give.

Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

When you tried to copy the file from your USB thumb drive onto the Android tablet what options did it give you when it prompted you to "select the type of file"?

Unless you need to do some form of editing to the Word file on your tablet you could save it as a PDF file and copy that to your USB thumb drive. Saving that to your tablet should enable you to print it through the ePrint Home & Biz app.

Hope that helps.

Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

The options I had for type of file were text, audio, video and image.

Your suggestion on converting to pdf file is a good one in transferring the document to the USB drive and onto the tablet. Thanks for that. But it does not cure the problem of creating a doc file on the Android tablet and trying to print it with ePrint.

Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

Hi biged31, when you try copying the Word document from your USB thumb drive to the tablet, and it prompts you to "Complete action using" do you see Kingsoft Office or Office Suite listed as options? If so complete the action using one of these applications.

You need to download the file onto the tablet via an app that can read Microsoft file formats. This would also apply if you received an email with a Word attachment that you wanted to view on your tablet. Once you have the file downloaded on your device using an MS Office file viewer app you should then be able to select it from your devices File Manager (might be called something slightly different) and when prompted to "Complete action using" then select the ePrint Home & Biz app. Alternativeyl you could open the Home & Biz app and navigate through the files listed to the Word doc and select it for printing.

For example on my Samsung Galaxy smartphone I can use an app called ThinkFree Office to import the file onto the device and then I've successfully printed the (Word) document via ePrint Home & Biz.

Hope this makes sense and helps you get printing Word documents from your tablet via ePrint Home & Biz.

Re: Eprinting Problem for doc Files

Arkle1,

Thanks for your reply. I tried opening the doc with both Kingsoft Office and Office Suite and, in both cases, I was unsuccessful in printing these saved documents via ePrint Home & Bizz. So I contiune to be able to print other types of files but not .doc or .docx files. Wierd.

Thanks again.
