Firmware Upgrade: p1102w, p1606dn, m1210 series, cp 1025nw

[ Edited ]

The following products require a firmware upgrade (FW older than 20130210 ) and re-registration with ePrint center for use of the ePrint feature. Please print a configuration page to see what version of firmware your printer has.

HP LaserJet P1100 Series

  • HP LaserJet Pro P1102w

HP LaserJet P1600 Series

  • HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn

HP LaserJet M1210 MFP Series

  • HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf MFP
  • HP LaserJet Pro M1213nf MFP
  • HP LaserJet Pro M1214nfh MFP
  • HP LaserJet Pro M1216nfh MFP
  • HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw MFP
  • HP LaserJet Pro M1218nfs MFP
  • HP LaserJet Pro M1219nf MFP

If a customer has one of the above devices, has FW older than 20130210 and has registered the device with HP ePrint Center, they will need to update the firmware on their device in order to continue to use the ePrint feature.

To obtain the firmware, please visit www.hp.com/go/eprint and do the following:

  1. Select your device series from the list.

NOTE:  Reference above list for help on finding your device series.

  1. Select the appropriate operating system for your PC.
  2. Click the RUN button.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the firmware upgrade for your device.

After firmware upgrade is complete, you may need to reset Web Services on your device and re-register the device with the HP ePrint Center by doing the following:

  1. Access the Embedded Web Services (EWS) by entering the IP address of your device in your web browser’s address bar.
  2. Click on the HP Web Services tab.
  3. Click the button to remove Web Services.
  4. Click the button to enable Web Services.
  5. Print the information sheet to get the new ePrint printer code for your device.
  6. Go to www.hpeprint.com
  7. Sign in to your ePrint account.
  8. Select “Add a Printer” to your Account.
  9. Enter the new printer code for your device (from the information sheet).
  10. 10.  Enter a new customized email address.

             NOTE:  Your previous customized email address may be unavailable. If that occurs,                       please choose a new customized email address or enter your old customized email address and choose from one of the suggestions presented.

11. Change your ePrint settings as needed.

Re: Firmware Upgrade: p1102w, p1606dn, m1210 series, cp 1025nw

Just did a firmware update per e-mail request, and now my cp1025nw has no wireless.  When pushing the wireless button, it will blink for several minutes then go off. Have unplugged routerto reset, but still does not work.

Re: Firmware Upgrade: p1102w, p1606dn, m1210 series, cp 1025nw

Hi,

What's new in the firmware?

When mailing internationally do you realise saying 3/1/2013 can mean 3 January 2013?

The download actually redownloaded eprint, not just a firmware update - I screwed around trying to find the firmware update.

Finally.. registering for the forums sent me to an invalid URL :smileyhappy:

So, HP comms need some work.  The printer is brilliant though!

Re: Firmware Upgrade: p1102w, p1606dn, m1210 series, cp 1025nw

@CodySydney,

If you go to hp.com - support and drivers - put in your printer and browser to the product page then click on your OS. You will see a FW download link. Next to that link there is a more details button which will list the fixes that are in this FW upgrade. While there were other enhancements in this FW upgrade is it required to continue using the ePrint functionality for the printer.

<<Enhancements for ePrint - This update will be necessary in order to maintain ePrint functionality.>>

If you followed the steps that where in the original post or the email communication, then you should not have had an issue with the upgrade. It will not only download a new version of ePrint but upgrade FW at the same time.

Hope this helps clear up confusion.

@jrboozer,

Have you tried going into your Start menu, looking for the HP folder, then using the wireless configuration utility? When I set the wireless up on my machine, this was how I did it and it worked beautifully.

Please let me know if you need any other help.

Thanks for the reply, but I downloaded the full program from the website and now it seems to be working fine.  I haven't tried my other computers though.

Re: Firmware Upgrade: p1102w, p1606dn, m1210 series, cp 1025nw

I tried doing the update via Windows XP running as a virtual machine. Each time it appeared to fail. Now the display shows "NO STRING IN RO" on the first line. The second line alternates between the "NO STRING IN RO" message and 192.168.1.5. Looks like the printer is now bricked. How can I undo this?

@spyc1,

I am unsure how to undo this and the engineer I am working with for the Linux solution is unavailable. Unfortunately, you will have to hang on till Monday and hopefully I will have an answer for you then. In the meantime, please have some patience and wait until you hear from me.

Thank you,
AuntieEm
