Getting a message "Paper is too short to auto duplex" How can I correct this setting?

Help section says to fix this problem on the front of the printer but there is nothing related to paper size there.

Re: Getting a message "Paper is too short to auto duplex" How can I correct this setting?

Just installed an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 to an XP xp3 system, and we are getting the same error. Default tray was changed to tray 2 (was defaulting in setup to tray 1), and that didn't fix the issue. Connnection is via USB. You can click on OK and the print job prints, but it is annoying the you-know-what out of the end user. Checked all available settings in the printer driver screens in Windows, no where can you set/change duplexing, other than turning off if the duplexer is installed. Nothing else shows anything related to duplexing. Any ideas?

turn the printer off. take out the paper and then reload the paper.  turn the printer back on.  fixed!

I had the same problem with my 6500A Plus.  Shutting off the printer and reinstalling paper worked like a charm!  Thanks!

Re: Getting a message "Paper is too short to auto duplex" How can I correct this setting?

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus multi-function unit.  As a couple respondents noted, the solution is as simple as turning off the unit, then turning it back on.  I encountered this error message only after having selected (and used) the duplex function, then disabling it.  It appears that the duplex function didn't really disable, even though it showed as such in Printer Properties / Print On Both Sides / None.  Why -- I don't know, but the solution is very simple and effective.
