What are you trying to print? Documents, emails, webpages, or photos?
This might sound strange, but do you have bluetooth turned on?
Sometimes it can cause issues with AirPrint. Go ahead and turn it off if it is already on and try to print something again with the duplex mode. Double check and make sure it is on before trying to print.
Alright, lets try a hard reboot on one of your devices and see if that makes a difference. Hold down both the home button and sleep button at the same time. You will see the slide to power off option, but ignore that. Hold them both down until you see the white Apple logo. Your device will reboot. Once it is back on, let's try to print double-sided once again. Let me know if that makes a difference.
Ok that is really weird. I don't have a 6700 to test it out on our I would. I do want you to try one more thing for me if you don't mind though. I know this isn't the way you are wanting to print from your devices, but I'm just curious if this will print double-sided for you when AirPrint wont.
Download the HP ePrint app from the Apple App Store. They just released a new version of this app yesterday. After you select a job and press the print button (email or webpage, photos cannot be printed with the double-sided option) go into the settings by selecting the little gear icon, which is located in the top right hand corner of the screen on the iPhone. Once there, you will see an option for "More Options". One of these options is "Two-sided". Try that and see if that print's double-sided for you.
