HP Photosmart D110 - Unable to Convert a USB connected printer to wireless

Product: HP Photosmart D110 series

OS:  Windows 7 64-bit

Problem:

I am trying to use the ePrint app from my iPhone but the printer is not being detected.

After running both the HP Network Configuration print page and Wireless Network Test Report, I can clearly see that the printer is connected to the local network and has a Network status of ready.

When I go on HP Solution Center 14.0 > HP Photosmart D110 > Settings > Network Settings I get the following error:

"This product has not been configured for networking.  No network settings are available."

So I then tried to enable the network settings by following this tutorial: Convert a USB connected printer to wireless

http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/wireless/reconfiguring-system-help2.html

However, in Solution Center 14.0 I cannot find the option "Printer Setup & Software > Convert a USB connected printer to wireless" :

3. A. If your HP printer software is installed, use Start -> Programs -> HP -> <your printer model> -> Printer Setup & Software. On a Mac, open Finder and go to Applications -> HP -> <your printer model> -> Printer Setup & Software.

What am I doing wrong? How come the printer says its on the network, but the app cant detect it?

Thank you for your help

Re: HP Photosmart D110 - Unable to Convert a USB connected printer to wireless

Hi Roberto,

Thx for the help, following your instructions I had to reinstall the Full Software and Drivers for my device and select to install it as a Network printer. From my computer it works great, no need for USB cable.

But when trying to connect from my iPhone using the HP ePrint app on the same Wifi network it does not detect it.

Again I printed all Network and Wireless Settings and things seem fine so I dont know why the app is not detecting the printer or scanner.

Any ideas ?

Re: HP Photosmart D110 - Unable to Convert a USB connected printer to wireless

In order to AirPrint from your iPad/iPhone, here's all you need to do:

1. Make sure the printer and iPad/iPhone are connected to the same local network.
2. Open something you want to print (on the iPad/iPhone).
3. On the iPad/iPhone, tap the "Action" button (arrow curving out of a box).
4. Tap "Print".

If you have any issues with printing, the steps below typically resolve the issues:

1. Power off the printer.

2. Completely power off the iOS devices (hold the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until a message appears asking you to "Slide to power off". Slide across that bar, and it should completely power off).

3. Power the printer back on.

4. Power the iOS devices back on.

5. Try to print again.

Those steps usually resolve the issue. If they do not, try this additional steps:

6. Power cycle your router (usually done by unplugging the router’s power cord, waiting 20 seconds, and plugging it back in).

7. Make sure that the iOS devices and the printer are all connected to the same network, then try to print.

Re: HP Photosmart D110 - Unable to Convert a USB connected printer to wireless

After hours of work trying to connect my printer to internet, I put in my phone number (complete with area code) of my DSL line instead of my chosen Linksys password.

That was all it took to get me connected.  The installation wizard did all the rest.
