HP Printer Control App

Hi all, I have just installed the HP Printer Control App on my iPhone 4 and iPad. Both of which are running iOS5.0.1

I cannot seem to get the App to 'see' and connect to any of my wireless printer(s) which are working perfectly fine for ePrint service, ePrint home & biz app and AirPrint. They are:

  • an HP Envy 100 D410a
  • an HP OJ Pro 8500a Plus
  • an HP Photosmart eStation C510a

Am I missing something glaringly obvious? Or am I just unfortunate that those 3 above are just not supported at all?

I note on the link above also that "iOS devices (running iOS 4.2.x and 4.3.x): iPhone 3GS and 4; iPad and iPad 2; and iPod Touch 3G and 4G" are supported. Would this be just an out of date message since iOS 5 is only recently launched, or is it true and the app cannot support anything above iOS 4.2.x ?

Thanks for your help guys!

Re: HP Printer Control App

Unfortunately, right now the HP Printer Control App only supports the Deskjet 3050a, Photosmart K510 series, Envy 110 series (D411 series), Photosmart 5510 series, and the Photosmart 6510 series.

Since it's a fairly new app, I would be surprised if they didn't add support for more models in the future.

Re: HP Printer Control App

I also need help! The HP Printer Control App keeps "Searching for Printer" on the Printer Info screen on my ipad, but never has found my Envy printer. Otherwise I'm happy with the printer. Both AirPrint and ePrint work great. Using: iPad running iOS 5.0.1? HP Envy D110a printer with a static IP address on the network. Printer has latest HP Service Updates. Our pc(s) can connect to the Envy printer and scan and copy etc.. Perhaps a part of the problem shows up on the App's Saved Files > Sharing>Share Settings screen where the PORT entry I can type in only appends those digits to the end of the IP address, rather than allowing me to replacing the entire IP Address. It displays the revised IP Address after one presses DONE on the Saved Files screen. I've never posted anything! Please help. I've tried everything on the printer, PC, and iPad that I can think of. Can I change the entire IP Address in the app?

Re: HP Printer Control App

HP's ePrint Home & Biz app was suggested by HP Expert and it works great. I can now scan & print or save my scaned document to my photo album, AirPrint, and ePrint with my Envy and iPad using this app!

Re: HP Printer Control App

awesomedave - I'm afraid the Envy 100 is not supported by this app - however the HP Envy 110 e-All-in-One is (subtle difference)

Here is a useful reference: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/ePrint-Print-Apps-Mobile/Cloud-Services-Supported-Printers-ePrint-Airpr...

Re: HP Printer Control App - Very Unhappy No Firmware Update for 8500A to Support App.

Bought an HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus, and can't believe that the Printer Control app doesn't apply to the current product in the market!   And even though a firmware update would rectify this, HP has not moved to make that possible.  I don't know why, but these last few years, HP seems bent on destroying my 40-years of customer good-will.

Re: HP Printer Control App

My printer is a HP Envy D110a printer and I was not able to get this app to scan or copy remotely using my iPad. You can read my post earlier in this stream. I submitted my problem here and didn't get a response, then I posted my problem in a HP expert forum and was told to use the HP Home&Biz app. I'm trying to pass along what I learned. If you have an Envy D110a and AirPrint and EPrint work, but you also want to scan or copy via your app ... use HP Home&Biz!
