I have an HP Photosmart C4780 connected through WiFi to my network but sadly it's not supported by AirPrint on iDevices.
So, I was using HP ePrint Home & Biz iOS app (version 4.1) which was very useful for me as it found the printer and allowed me to print from my iPad/iPhone.
Today I updated the app on my iPhone to version 5 (now simply named "HP ePrint" on the App Store) and after the update, the new version doesn't find my Photosmart C4780 anymore. I did the Activation thing on the iPhone, as it was requested to refresh the list of printer on my network in the All tab, but after Refresh no printer is found.
Still I have the old 4.1 on my iPad (and hopefully in my iTunes library) and the printer is located, I assume, through mDSN as it shows the name specified for this setting.
So, question is: Did you dropped support for Photosmart C4780 on 5.0 release of HP ePrint iOS app? If so, why did't you informed this appropriately on the app update text description in the App Store? A message like "some printers may not be supported anymore" would have been helpul.
If HP ePrint should find Photosmart C4700 series printers and this is an issue, how should we proceed from here?
Thanks.

WilliamBPS,
The C4780 is supported by the new HP ePrint app. The iPhone probably needs to be turned off and on after the update. I'm not seeing any printers that were dropped. Click here to see further details on Supported Printers for Cloud Services.
Click here to see a detailed description of the following steps for 'No Printers Found' or 'No Printers Available' Message Displays on the Mobile Device.
Solution one: Turn the router, the Apple device, and the HP printer off and on
Solution two: Make sure that you are using the most current HP ePrint mobile app
Solution three: Try to print from another device on the same network as the HP printer, and then reset the HP printer
Solution four: Uninstall and reinstall the HP ePrint mobile app on your Apple device
Solution five: Update your router with the most recent firmware, and then try to print
Best Regards,
Kenneth

Kenny,
Thanks for your update.
I've tried the restart before (as I found that same "action plan" in other thread) but it didn't worked, so I removed the app. Later with the 5.0.2 update I installed again the HP ePrint back again and it worked. Though sometimes when I open the app the dot in the label remains gray and never goes green.
Now that you mentioned the restart, I have restarted my iPhone and my C4780 shows the green dot. But, I'm not sure if it's going to keep green whenever I need it. I'll continue checking and see.
What doesn't makes me confident on the app 5.x update is that this kind of hassle was never required with old HP ePrint Home & Biz (4.x) version, which I keep in my iPad.
I'll continue working with both app versions on my iPhone (5.x) and iPad (4.x) and see how it goes. I really hope latest update works better, as 5.x is a nice update.

I just down loaded the hp printer control and it can not find my c4780. The IPhone as the most recent update. Any suggestions. It's kind of amazing the old hp eprint services still works. Could use some encouragement/instruction. Thanks

homestaydon,
The HP Print Control app is not able to see the C4780. The app on the iPhone to download that can be used with the C4780 is the HP ePrint app. We can click here for reference. Happy printing! ![]()

Kenneth

Thanks for the response. That is what I already had discovered, but glad to have it confirmed. Now another question. In the app that works on the page that shows which printer is connected and below it gives you 3 icons of items to print I have not been able to print pictures that are on my Iphone. It will find email items ok. so what do I need to do to get it to print some pictures?
Thanks

No problem at all.
From the home screen of the iPhone, touch the HP ePrint app > Photos > Camera Roll > Select the photo > Select the printer > Print. We can use this page here for reference.
Best Regards,
Kenneth
