HP 6820
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Just installed an 8620 and signed up for Instant Ink.  What shipping method is used for the ink?  USPS will hold mail if I'm gone. UPS/Fedx not so much.

Hey @BillyRValentine

Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  :robothappy:

I understand you've recently enrolled your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer in Instant Ink and are curious about the particulars of ink deliveries.  I would like to help.

DHL, a courier service, will be delivering your first batch of ink - the Welcome Kit - to the United States Postal Service, who will be handling the direct delivery to your shipping address.  If you have a secure P.O. box it's likely that the USPS agent will simply deposit the package there in your absence.  Otherwise, if you're not there, they will hold the package for you.

The only exception to this is for some Instant Ink customers whose ink needs exceed their automated shipping cycle. They may call call our Cloud Services at 855-785-2777. (If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html) In those instances, Cloud Services may express ship Ink to customers in need.  HP uses FedEx and UPS to ship those orders.  If you are absent when they deliver, they will leave a slip at your door/mailbox with instructions on where to retrieve your package.

If you are looking for more general information on Instant Ink click here.

I hope this helps.  Thanks again for posting in the HP Support Forum.  If you have any further questions about your printer we're here to help.

Have a great day!  🙂

Sounds good.  My printing needs are minimal so I don't anticipate the need to escalate any deliveries.  If I do, then it's a situation where I would be around and could accept the delivery.  If the regular DHL/USPS method is used for standard deliveries, then I can rest assured that if my printer orders ink while I'm on vacation that it won't get lost :Surprise:
