I have purchased an HP Officejet 6500 E710a-f and this went well until the newest firmware installed automatically on the device. Now when I try to print from my iOS-devices it cannot find the printer. When I reboot the printer it is available for a minute or two and AirPrint works. But after these two minutes it can no longer be found by my iPod or iPad. The Officejet, my router and all my iOS-devices are having the latest firmware or iOS. uPNP is enabled on the router, bluetooth is disabled on every iOS-device. I have followed the troubleshooting page on HP.com and everything that is described worked for me. Even now I can still ping the printer, browse to its webpage or print from my Windows 7 32bit, which also has the latest drivers. Most bizarre thing about this is that it actually works for a short time. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi, by the way where is your wireless rourter located? can you ple run a wireless network test. And pls locate for the IP address and for the channel?
If you have the Ip address, pls do the following
Open a web browser and from the addresss bar type in the IP address from the wireless network test that you got. If you see the picture of your printer it means, you cancommunicate with your printer wirelessly.
And pls take a look on the channel from your report, If the channel is not set to 11,ls call your rourter manufacturer to set / change the channel for you.
Now, IF your computer is mac OS pls do this,
1. go to apple mac icon and go to software update, pls download and install the update. restart your computer.
2. go to apple mac icon- system preferences - print and fax
3. higlight your Hp printer and click the minus button to delete the printer
4. once you cleared the Hp printer icon from the print and fax list, click the plus sign to add the printer- select BONJOUR -click add
5. prove functionality - print and scan
6.try to print from your IPAD, iphone
hope this will work ...=)
Pls click KUDOS if this resolved your issue... thanks!

Hi Ianz, thx for the quick reply. The printer is connected to the router through a cable. Wireless is not an option as it is not an Officejet 6500 plus and therefore does not have wireless functionality. When I do the test after a reboot of the printer I am standing next to my router. Pings to the router or printer from my iPod are always without latency. The channel from the router's wireless settings are set to "automatic" but I will try some different channels as you recommended and give it another go. I don't have high hopes though as I have no other problems with my wireless connection between the router and the iOS-devices and the printer is connected with a cable. Maybe I should try a full reset of the printer (factory defaults) and then try. I'll keep you updated.

Hi! now I get it, that's the reason why it will not print via airprint because to have an airprint, your printer should be connected wirelessly-not ethernet.. even you will reset it to factory defaults.it will not resolved your issue..

Hi,
Now I see the problem here...
that's the reason why the airprint is intermitent...because the main requirements of an airprint is that your printer should be connected wirelessly....
pls check HP website for the list of supported printers for airprint...
maybe your printer is e-print capanle but not airprint...

What you say is not correct. See below for a part of the list of AirPrint enabled printers because it is supported. The only difference between the 6500 and the PLUS is that the PLUS has wifi:
- HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer
- HP Officejet 6500A e-AiO
- HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-AiO
- HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format e-AiO
The way the printer is connected to the network makes no difference, the protocoll is TCP/IP. And how would you explain that it worked flawlessly until the firmware-update and now it works for a few minutes? I hope the factory defaults will help and will let you know.

yes your correct--- because airprint will only work if your printer is connected via wi-fi too...
Yes it may worksometimes but not in the long run....

I probably just misunderstood your comment but AirPrint does not require that a printer be connected via wi-fi. An AirPrint printer can be connected via ethernet to a wi-fi router which then connects to an iOS device. Isn't the HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fn an example of an AirPrint printer without wi-fi?

..that printer can be connected wirelessly (no ethernet cable required)..
for airprint -your printer should be connected wirelessly to a rourter....not ethernet cable.... thanks

hi,
can you pls, check your rourter - pribnt a wireless configuration page report - if the cahneel of the rourter is not 11- pls do call yyour rourter manufacturer to change it to 11 because channell 11 is the most stable channel for wireless connection....
and also can you pls. provide the exact printer model if it is a e709 or e710? thanks
