I cannot get the ePrint function working. When I select the ePrint button on the printer I get the following message - 'Server Connection Error'. I am requested to 'Enter Proxy'. I cannot fing any instruction how to set proxy seettings to get this operational. Could you please assist me with this problem. Many thanks

I hope you are doing well and welcome to the HP forum;
If you complete the previously mentioned steps you can do this after to set your printer with an static (non changing) IP Address and google dns public servers to ensure that this works properly
(sometimes the preset DNS server assigned by you ISP will create conflict)
Let's do this;
- On the product-control panel, touch the Wireless icon (
), or touch Wireless . - Touch Print Info . The product prints a network configuration page. After you have printed a network configuration page or wireless network test report, check for the following:
- Does the network configuration page or wireless network test report indicate any problems? If so, follow the recommendations on the report to try to resolve the issue.
- Do the reports indicate that the HP product is connected to your wireless network? The network name that the HP product is connected to shows on the network configuration page or the wireless network test report.
- Make sure that the product is connected to the correct wireless network, and not another wireless network in the area (such as your neighbor's).
- Follow these steps to assign a static IP address to your HP product.
- In the browser on your preference please type the printer's IP address and the EWS (Emblemded Web Server) should open here Click the Networking tab, click the Wireless tab, and then click the IPv4tab. (Your menu path might be slightly different, depending on your HP product model.) A new settings page displays there do the following;
- Set a Manual IP : Your wireless router automatically sets an IP address within a specific range (called the DHCP range). If you know what the DHCP range is, set an IP address in which the last set of numbers is outside that range, but no higher than 254. Keep the first three sets of numbers the same. If you do not know the DHCP range, select a fairly high IP address, like 250 (again, for the last set of numbers). To learn about your router's DHCP range, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or wireless router manufacturer.
- Subnet address : Use 255.255.255.0, unless you know that it is different, in which case you should use that number.
- Set the gateway address and the first DNS. Find the gateway address in network configuration page you printed previously and added here and for the DNS servers. Use google's Public DNS Servers which are 8.8.8.8 and in the second (Alternative DNS) 8.8.4.4
Att this point you will be ready to take full advantage of the capabilities of EPrint just follow this instructions to get started GO HERE.
Hope this answer your question and helps you. Let me know if I can assist you any further I will do my best to help you.
Best of luck;
RobertoR

I was going to try your suggestion but my browser doesn't like the ip address. What is my next option? I ran the network test report. It says no problems found. Everything was pass and signal was excellent. I've turned the printer on and off several times and although the printer now is connected to the server email won't work.
also, any suggestion on how to fix my hp laptop? It was working great until I inserted the startup disk from the hp photosmart premium printer. Once the cd was inserted the computer totally died. Therefore, can't even get the disck out of the computer to run it on another one (though it now scares me).

Hi RobertoR, thanks for your suggestions.
There are no errors reported on the Wireless Network test results or the Network Configuration page.
I've opened up the EWS and got to the IPv4 information (its not on a separate tab). I can't find where to edit the IP addresses. Can you suggest where?
Thanks,
Adriennem

Hi Adriennem,
So you got there by Choosing the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
the IPv4 and couldn't manually type an IP address that is is the proper range but also outside of DHCP range? i.e. 192.168.0.15 where the DHCP is Range is 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.199 them you will set your printer on the 192.168.0.200 to 192.168.0.254 this is the best way to do it.
I am out for the weekend but I will come back monday and do my best to help you if you still need the assistance.
Hope this helps;
RobertoR

Hi RobertoR,
My apologies for the delayed response. I've had some problems with my new printer. 4 printers later (!), I've now upgraded to the HP Photosmart 6510.
I've just connected it to my laptop today and I've reached the same block as before.
I've connected from my laptop to the printer over my wireless connection with no problems. There are no errors reported on the Wireless Network test results or the Network Configuration page.
I'm unable to setup up the ePrint function on the printer. When I select the ePrint botton on the printer I'm prompted for the Proxy Server. I've entered my broadband Router IP address for the Proxy Server (Is this correct?). I then get a 'Server Connection Error'
Following your original instructions I've opened up the EWS and and followed your instructions:
- I selected the network tab on the top bar
- On the side bar I selected the Wireless (802.11) tab
- This displays a status report and when I click on more details I can view (but not edit) the IPv4 configuration details
- The only other options below the Wireless (802,11) option are: Status; Wireless Wizard Setup; Advanced; Networking.
I can't find the IPv4 page that will allow me edit the IP addresses. Can you suggest where?
Many thanks,
Adriennem
