Sleep mode equals usless Eprint on officejet8600

Just purchased an Officejet8600 and set it up and discovered that there is not an option to disable Sleep mode. This renders the printer useless when trying to Eprint unless there is someone with the printer to "Wake" it up.  Tech support verified this, and for that reason I may have to box it back up and return it.

What good is eprint, if you cant use it?

Anyone have any ideas how to correct this?

Thanks

It is a known issue and hopefully there will be a fix soon :smileyhappy:

Is there an option to keep it from entering sleep mode?

No there is isn't.   You only have the options of waiting 5, 10 or 15 minutes before the printer enters sleep mode.

Have you tried doing a software update from the printer?

Re: Sleep mode equals usless Eprint on officejet8600

I just bought it last week, and yes I have already done the update

Also, ive had a "paper jam" message several times and have had to shut down to correct it. In doing so, I get an "impopper shut down" message

Ive only printed around 15 papers !

So far prerty disappointed. Hope HP comes out with a fix, or I may have to return it.
Thanks for any further input

Re: Sleep mode equals usless Eprint on officejet8600

After some "research" an ePrint job to the 8600 will wake the printer and print unless there is a problem such as the printer is offline, or not connected to the interernet or there's a problem with the ePrint servers.

You can find out a wealth of information on this subject for the 8600 at this link:

As for paper jams, you can have a look at this link:

Re: Sleep mode equals usless Eprint on officejet8600

Thanks for the help. So far this is my favorite "Note" in the paper jam link

NOTE:
Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. The following steps apply to both real and false paper jams.

Its a brand new Printer!! Really shouldnt get 3 "false paper jams" in the first 15 print jobs! Hopefully this is just a break-in issue
