iPad setup

Setup from an ipad is EXTREMELY vague.  Are there any printed directions that walk you through step by step?:smileyindifferent:

Re: iPad setup

Hey susanrachel!

I don't know that there are step-by-step directions listed anywhere but I'd be happy to try to help you out. If you have an ePrint capable printer, you can use Airprint which is built into iOS 4.2 and newer. To do this all you have to do is have your iPad on the wireless network that your printer is hooked up to and then select print from the iPad's action button (looks like a box with an arrow). This should work on any app it is compatible with but you can test it on Safari if needed.

However, if you do not have an ePrint capable printer, HP does offer an app on the app store you can download called HP iPrint. Once you download it from the app store, you can either print from the photo library or load documents onto it with your computer and print those.

Let me know if this helps or if you need more information!

Re: iPad setup

I seem to have everything I need both a new eprint printer and an operating system 4.2.1....

Where is "airprint:"?  I don't seem to have this.  Is it an app?

Re: iPad setup

No, it is just built into the iPad's operating system. So if you open safari (not the only app it works on), you can tap the action button just to the left of the address bar. This should give you a drop down menu with the option to print. The action button won't always be in teh same place on all apps but it should always look the same.

Hope this helps!

Re: iPad setup

This resolved my issue. The instructions that came with the printer seemed to imply that in order to set up printing from iPad to the wireless printer, via a wireless router, you would have to download software from HP. This was not correct in my case. I just set up the printer for wireless printing and was able to print immediately from iPad Thanks so much, Debfrommo

Re: iPad setup

I have my wireless printer and my iPad on the same network but when I click on print on my iPad, it says no AirPrint found. What should I do?

Re: iPad setup

Hi Cathy! I would suggest creating a new thread and providing some more information regarding your issue. Things like what printer you are using would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Re: iPad setup

We have an iPad 2 with a 4.3.5 OS. We purchased an HP DeskJet3052a printer, which is wireless and has ePrint. We are able to activate the wireless feature but it does not connect with the network. I am led to believe that we are we are to initiate the printer using the CDs provided, using either a laptop or desktop. Since we have neither, is there a way that we can initialize otherwise(is there on iPad app)?

Unfortunately, Yes you would need a computer to setup the wireless network. The only way around it is if you have a WPS router. If you have a WPS router than you can follow the "Push Button Setup" method listed on page 31 of the User Guide.

Hope this helps!
