HP TouchPad will not charge

I also have an iPad. I haven't tried the iPad charger yet.

Can I try the iPad charger to see if it touchpad works?

This happens to me as well. It's the touchpad microusb cable that causes it for me. THe one i got was a little bent. It worked the first month but 2 days ago my touchpad just didnt charge at all. Tried another microusb cable and it worked

I also noticed the microusb port in my touchpad is misaligned. it's not exactly spot on the opening of the microusb port. sometimes i have to wiggle the cable a bit so charging would start.

This could be a defect issue with some of the touchpads.

By the way,

ipad charger will not work. Touchpad will say its not enough current to charge it. Has to be the same rating as the Touchpad charger.

Now that you mentioned the micro USB port is not aligned,
I just checked the port on my Touchpad,
It's also mis-aligned.
It only charged on the first day.

Anyway, HP sent a new charger today and it doesn't work either.
I called HP and they said to send it in and they'll repair it.
Note: it's brand new. Only used it for 2 days.
I requested for a new one and they said no we'll repair it.
Now that's terrible customer service.
Terrible HP product.

i tried to align mine when the microusb cable was in the touchpad. Insert the cable and then very slighty align the port to the hole. its probably just milimeters misaligned so just a lttle wiggle would do it. Remember that i used a different microusb cable but i had the original charger.

Who knows when you'll get that touchpad back if you send it in. Good luck! 

I wouldn't be surprised if more people have the same issues. Using Microusb ports in tablets is not a good idea.

Hey, I bought my 32g HP touchpad from bestbuy last month when they were liquidating the touchpads. I was never a ipad/touchpad fan till i actually played with the touchpad and fell in love with it. The first month was perfect with no problems. All of a sudden it completely died. the dead battery with the little red juice level thing comes up and something that says about my touchpad not recognizing the charger. I read over some of these previous forums and most say its the charging component and ive tried to do that but still didnt work. Also to make sure electricity was coming out of the AC adapter i used the same hp touchpad usb cord to plus into my cell phone (because of its universal charging head) and my cell phone does charge. So this does basically tell me that its the hp Touchpad. I called the "butler" service and they said they might have to replace it and they want to hold $300 or something when they send it in im not sure i got upset when i heard the price but than again i could of misunderstood. Is there any other way this is actually fixable without sending it in like that because it sounds like some bull**bleep** and i wont get my money back or whatever. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Most likely is that usb cable problem, the micro usb head is too short and easly twisted in the touchpad port. I foud a best cable for touchpad. If you have a WD my passport 1TB or 750GB usb 2.0 external harddriver, pull out that micro usb cable, you will find that usb cable have a much longer micro usb head, it fits tightly in touch pad. Hope hp will replace all touchpad cable with the one like my passport HD cable.

this is awesome, I was scared for the well being of my touchpad as it was not powering on. I used the power and the home button in the middle to turn it on thanks a lot for the info.
