Just a black ring in the middle of my pad what is it and what does it means

It's dead.  Sorry.

Here's my standard reply to TouchPad power failures...

There are several other threads already discussing this topic, but they all say the same things:

--Check your charger.  Many of the USB cables supplied by HP were fragile, and break easily.  Try another micro-USB cable with a charger that supplies 2 amps (2,000mA).  If using an HP charger, check the prongs on the transformer - they are removable, and if twisted out of position no current will flow.

--Try all the resets - simple (hold both the power and center button for 15 - 20 seconds until the HP logo appears).   Advanced (press and hold the power, center, and volume down together until logo appears.  May give the option to completely erase the unit!)

--Use a TouchStone to charge the device if you suspect the female charging port on the TouchPad has been damaged.

--As a last resort, try using the tpdebrick-v004 program.  This is a difficult, but doable re-flash of the device using a computer running Ubuntu, and a program from this link.

I revived one of my touchpads using this method.

My tablet gives out a weird symbol during the charging process and won't turn on.

I don't know how to upload the picture so you can see. It might be a charging symbol or power cord symbol. I don't know.

When the battery is very low you will see a large red battery symbol - like the charge indicator in the top bar when the tablet is running. This should go away when the battery is sufficiently charged for the tablet to boot.

As you mention a power cord symbol, you might be seeing the USB symbol, which would look similar to this:

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=USB+symbol&ia=images

This may indicate a software problem. Don't panic. Most problems are resolvable.

Please confirm the symbol you see and describe the circumstances. Has the TouchPad been working fine until recently or have you only just begun using it after a while? Where there any error messages before this happened?
