You're very welcome, Alex.

The URL you posted is correct and the corresponding info link to that file number has also been removed.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp110500-111000/sp110940.html

What it means, I do not know other than to say that you will not find any older BIOS versions available.

I can only speculate that as newer EliteDesk 800 G6 DM's were released to market they came with newer BIOS updates but usually if it is an original BIOS, it will indicate that on the release notes.

Do you know how to find that information?

When you click on the latest BIOS update file, there is a Revision History section at the bottom of the page which has the release notes for all of the versions available.

None of them indicate 'initial BIOS release.'

Hi, Alex:

The oldest BIOS version HP has available anymore for the 800 G6 DM is v.02.08:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp133001-133500/sp133185.exe

If there were older BIOS updates, they have been removed from HP's FTP servers because here is the link to the release notes for the above BIOS update:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp133001-133500/sp133185.html

hello Paul,

thank you for your answer.

this is very interesting... I still have found an older BIOS version 02.04.01 Rev. A - it's file sp110940.exe

just was looking at the hp's softpaq file ftp server, and I have to admit, your most likely to be right : it seems to be deleted, because I could not call the page https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp110500-111000/ or https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp110500-111000/sp110940.exe . it displays 'not found' ...

(pages / url's might be correct, isn't it ?)

this is now suddenly very important to me, because :

does that means, that BIOS version 02.08.01 Rev. A is replacing the initial BIOS 02.01.00 Rev A for this model, and is the 'new' initial BIOS version... ?

...correct me pls when I am understanding wrong...

if Yes, so that means, I must upgrade all existing G6 DM's in my organisation to this BIOS version to guarantee the functionality of all my G6 DM devices.... ?

Thank you for your help - I really appreciate that !

Best regards,

Alex

hello Paul,

maybe I was typing a little bit too lazy... 😉

I (personally) understand the first ever released BIOS of any device as the 'Initial BIOS'; some vendors also name them this way (I believe, Fujitsu did so...)...

So I don't say, that HP is doing so... - just to avoid any missunderstandings.

But the vendors are different in programming BIOS Updates :

some are programming the BIOS' in that way, that they are completely (<- !) (re-)programming the new BIOS everytime,

...so here I can jump over some versions without to expect problems after updating...

some do it incrementally only and only make a kind of let's say 'partial update - programming' of selected blocks of the BIOS...

...and here I must (<- !) go step by step with each version they release...

At the past I lost a lot of ASUS-notebooks, because they made a platform change while updating BIOS -> without marking that absolutely clear before downloading them...

So I became more carefully and also sceptical...

Back to our BIOS :

if it replaces / superseedes NONE, and the old BIOS are no longer available, then it looks like that this BIOS is replacing the first ever (initial) released BIOS and is becoming (by meaning) the 'new' initial BIOS.

So I better upgrade all devices at my organisation to minimum this version - to guarantee the functionality and availability.

Thank you very much for your help. It's very much appreciated !

Best regards, Alex

To the OP:

Alex, I'm a bit confused. You start by asking for BIOS for the G5 Mini and yet you refer to your product as the G6 Mini. Are you aware that these two use different family BIOS? And, why would you want to go back to an original old BIOS regardless?

Here's the two and note the top yellow highlighted boxes for the S21 vs R21 families of BIOS... you can't use one on the other:

hello SDH,

...no worries : its not complicated. 🙂
I also have a thread with the ED 800 G5 DM... and the same problem there. To find here : https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/HP-EliteDesk-800-G...

On both threads Paul was answering. So he knewed, what I am talking about.

Yes, maybe it's confusing for outstanding readers. I'm sorry for confusing anyone out there.

And last but not least : thank you for your help as well. I knew, that there are different BIOS families used in both models. so I was aware of that situation. Maybe I mexed it up with the other thread a bit, which led to confusion...

Best regards, Alex
