HP Recommended

Hi all.

A friend has asked me for some advice on getting an easy to use 3D scanner, and I realized my knowledge is woefully outdated. Can anyone advise me on what the best options to look at are?

Main use will be to scan small (teapot sized or smaller) objects, with relatively high mechanical accuracy (0.1mm? ish). Biggest catch is ease of usage. We need something that can produce reliable, consistent results without a lot of user fiddling to make it work.

The last bit is the annoying kicker. Many of the desktop 3d scanners look great on the mechanical side of things, but it's been difficult to find useful information on how easy they are to use and how reliable the results are. Does anyone have any useful experience to bring to bear?

For comparison, we've been looking at the matter and the einscanner . We are not set on having to use a desktop system however, it just seems the best for reliable scanning.

Any advice?
