Sprout G2

Hello I have a Sprout G1 fro my classroom with capture stage.  I am in the process of acquiring several G2 pros.  I saw somewhere that the G2 pros can do realtime scanning of an object, thus making the capture stage unnecessary.  My question is, is this true?

G2 can do that. Geometry captured will have a little bit lower resolution than scans made with Sprout´s structured light scanner, but you can get great textures.

I am not the Sprout specialist, but you can scan an item in two ways, with or without turntable.

If you are using turntable you will have automated scanner. Without turntable you will need to turn scanned object by hand. That is the only difference.

Thank you David.  What I am asking is there is a video from CES on you tube in which a HP rep holding an object (shoe) under the scanner and getting real time scanning simply by rotating it in is hand. The soft ware removes his hand as he rotates the sho.  Is this something that is available on the sprout G2? or was that some thing that will eventually be available for the sprout.  If that is available it would seem the capture stage is unnecessary.  Thanks again.
