License Dongle: What if....

...just to be prepared:

 

How would one proceed, if the USB dongle with the license someday goes bad (will sure as hell happen when I work on something urgent ;-)

 

I made a copy of the contents, but I fear this would not help much.

 

Can someone in the know clarify?

You can make a copy, but your license will work only with your original USB dongle. Whatever happens with your dongle, try to format it and copy your back up on it. If dongle is corrupted and non read/writable you will need to exchange it for a new one.

Contact HP support in Germany, say you have defective USB dongle. They check your warranty and send you new dongle.
