Hi @Ryland12-_

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m truly sorry you’re facing this issue—especially on a newly purchased laptop.

Seeing a “3F0 – Boot Device Not Found” error can be alarming, but we’ll walk through this together step by step to help restore normal startup.

Step-by-Step Actions to Resolve

1. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Let’s first check if the drive is physically detected:

  • Power off your laptop.
  • Press the Power button, then immediately and repeatedly tap F2.
  • This opens HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Select Component Tests > Hard Drive and run a Quick Test.
    • If the test fails, the drive may need replacement.
    • If it passes, proceed to the next step.

2. Check BIOS Boot Order

Sometimes the system is set to boot from the wrong device:

  • Power on and repeatedly press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to System Configuration > Boot Options.
  • Ensure the internal hard drive is listed as the first boot device.
  • Save changes and exit.

3. Reset BIOS to Default

To eliminate any misconfigured settings:

  • In BIOS, press F9 to load default settings.
  • Press F10 to save and exit.

4. Re-seat the Drive (If Comfortable)

If you're comfortable opening the back panel:

  • Power off and unplug the laptop.
  • Remove the back cover and locate the drive.
  • Gently disconnect and reconnect the drive to ensure it’s seated properly.
  • Replace the cover and power on.

If diagnostics fail or the drive isn’t detected:
