Microsoft Windows 11

The screen no longer rotates. I reinstalled the drivers, but I still get this error for the AMD UMDF Sensor: "This device has been stopped because it has reported problems. (Code 43)."

@charly-brown, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

When encountering the "Code 43" error for the AMD UMDF Sensor on your HP OmniBook X Flip 16 inch 2-in-1 laptop, it typically indicates that the system is stopping the device due to a problem it has reported. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure all your device drivers are up to date. Visit HP Support and download the latest drivers for your laptop model.
  • Specifically, update the sensor drivers and, if applicable, reinstall them.

Disable and Enable the Device:

  • Open the Device Manager.
  • Locate the AMD UMDF Sensor under the Sensors category.
  • Right-click on it and select "Disable Device," then wait for a few moments.
  • Right-click again and choose "Enable Device."

Check Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your operating system is updated through Windows Update. Occasionally, Microsoft provides patches that resolve driver conflicts or errors.

BIOS Update:

  • Ensure the BIOS is up to date. You can also find the BIOS update on the HP Support site.

Restore System:

  • If the issue started recently, you could restore your system to a point before the problem began using Windows System Restore.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @charly-brown,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while, since the previous post looks like it has not fixed the issue, so here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post

Since the 2-in-1 feature is a key part of this device, we want to help you get it working smoothly again.

This issue is usually related to the graphics driver. Please update your system with the AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver (SoftPaq SP163067) from the HP support page below:

HP OmniBook X Flip 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI 16-ar0014ca (B84YQUA) Software and Driver Details)

Once installed, restart your laptop and the auto-rotation option should return, allowing you to switch seamlessly between laptop and tablet modes.

If you still face the same problem after the update, please let us know. We’ll be glad to assist you further until everything works as expected.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved, and if you feel this reply was helpful, click “Yes”.
