Hi,

I was unable to make the audio output work correctly on an Omnidesk Desktop M02-0xxx, even after the launch of the related application to resolve the problem.

The main problem is the fact that the only audio output available is a "AMD High Definition Audio Device". I cannot see the Realtek audio device, even with the latest driver versions.

What can I do to have this Realtek audio device seen as a potential output ?

Thanks.

Hi @LaurentL2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when the system insists everything is fine but you can’t hear a sound. Thank you for already checking the drivers—that’s an important step.

Let’s go through a structured approach to bring the Realtek audio device back into view on your Omnidesk Desktop M02 series:

Step 1: Verify Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Look for Realtek Audio.
    • If it’s missing, the driver may not be installed correctly.
    • If it’s present but disabled, right-click and choose Enable device.

Step 2: Install/Update Realtek Drivers

  • Download and install the latest Realtek audio driver for your model from HP’s support site:
    HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your desktop model (Omnidesk M02-0xxx) and select the Realtek audio driver package.
  • Restart the computer after installation.

Step 3: Show Disabled Devices

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
  2. Go to the Playback tab.
  3. Right-click inside the window and check Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices.
  4. If Realtek appears, right-click it and select Enable, then Set as Default Device.

Step 4: Windows Audio Services

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Ensure Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder are both running and set to Automatic.
  3. Restart these services if needed.

Step 5: BIOS/UEFI Check

  • Sometimes onboard audio is disabled in BIOS.
  • Restart the computer, enter BIOS/UEFI (usually by pressing F10 or Del at startup).
  • Look for Integrated Audio or Onboard Audio and ensure it is enabled.

Step 6: Use HP App Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App on your Windows system.
  • Select your desktop, then run Diagnose & Fix.
  • This tool will scan for missing or misconfigured audio components and repair them.

HP provides a guide for fixing sound problems:
HP PCs - No Sound from Speakers or Headphones

By following these steps, the Realtek audio device should reappear as a selectable output. It often feels like uncovering a hidden channel—once enabled, the sound flows back naturally.

Hi,

My previous message has been wiped out.

None of your step worked.

And just so that you know, there is no "Omnidesk M02-0xxx" available on the site.

Here is a sceenshot of my devices. SoundIssue1.png

Please note that I have also 2 Realtek service that are up and running.
