Hi @RAHUL315,

 Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop camera and microphone are not working and you're receiving a "camera not connected" error, try the following steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Check Hardware Connections:

    • Ensure that your laptop's camera lens is not covered or blocked.
    • Check if there's a physical switch or a key on your keyboard (often one of the function keys) that enables/disables the camera or microphone.
  2. Enable Camera and Microphone:

    • Press Windows + I to open Settings, then go to Privacy & Security.
    • Under App Permissions, ensure Camera and Microphone are both turned on.
    • Make sure apps have permission to use them under this section.
  3. Restart Your Device:

    • Simply restarting your laptop can often resolve temporary glitches. Try a complete shutdown and restart.
  4. Update Device Drivers:

    • Go to Device Manager. You can find it by typing "Device Manager" in the Windows search bar.
    • Expand Cameras and Sound, video and game controllers.
    • Right-click on your camera and microphone drivers and select Update driver, followed by Search automatically for updated driver software.
  5. Check Windows Update:

    • Visit Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and click Check for updates.
    • Install any updates and restart your laptop.
  6. Reinstall Camera and Microphone Drivers:

    • In Device Manager, right-click the camera and microphone devices, then select Uninstall device for both, and restart your computer.
    • Windows should reinstall the necessary drivers upon restart.
  7. Troubleshoot Hardware:

    • Use Windows troubleshooting tools by going to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Camera and Recording Audio troubleshooters to detect and fix issues.
  8. Check for Physical Damage:

    • Inspect your laptop for any visible damage to the parts of the laptop that house the camera and microphone.
  9. Restore System:

    • If the issue started recently, use System Restore to revert your laptop back to a previous state when everything was working.

These steps should help in resolving the issues with your laptop's camera and microphone.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
