Can't remember pin to get in my computer

@aliciabrooks25, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If you’ve forgotten the PIN to sign in to your HP computer, don’t worry, you can still regain access by following these steps:

Option 1: Reset PIN via Microsoft Account (if using a Microsoft account to sign in)

  1. On the login screen, click “I forgot my PIN” just below the PIN entry box.
  2. You’ll be prompted to verify your identity, usually via email, SMS, or authenticator app.
  3. Once verified, you’ll be able to set a new PIN.

Option 2: Use Password Instead (if you set one)

  1. On the login screen, select “Sign-in options”.
  2. Choose the password icon and enter your account password instead of the PIN.

Option 3: Local Account Recovery (if not using Microsoft account)

If you're using a local account and forgot both the PIN and password, you’ll need to reset the password using a password reset disk (if created), or:

  • Boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt and create a new user account.
  • Or perform a system reset (this will reinstall Windows and may remove files unless you choose to keep them).

Still Locked Out?

If none of the above work, you may need to perform a system recovery:

  1. Power off the PC.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press F11 repeatedly to enter HP Recovery Manager.
  3. Choose “Troubleshoot” > “Reset this PC” and follow the prompts.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
