Hi @ckliner,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

This error message is commonly known as a "Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD) or "Stop Error" and can occur due to various issues, including hardware failures, driver problems, or software conflicts. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and fix the problem:

Step 1: Install ALL Windows Updates

This one step fixes BSODs for most users.

  1. Click Start
  2. Go to Settings → Windows Update
  3. Click Check for updates
  4. Install everything, including “Optional updates”

Restart your PC.

Step 2: Update Drivers Automatically

Windows 11 sometimes ships with older drivers.

  1. Press Windows + X
  2. Click Device Manager
  3. Expand:
    • Display adapters
    • Network adapters
    • Sound
  4. Right‑click each device → Update driver

Take your time, no rush.

Step 3: Check for Corrupted System Files

Windows will repair itself with this command.

  1. Press Windows + S
  2. Type cmd
  3. Right‑click Command Prompt → Run as administrator
  4. Type this slow and steady: sfc /scannow

Press Enter.
This may take 10–15 minutes.

If it repairs anything, that was part of the problem.

Step 4: Check Your Memory (RAM)

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Type: mdsched.exe
  3. Press Enter
  4. Choose Restart now and check for problems

The system will test your RAM and show results.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
