Trying to determine/confirm whether I have been or am in the middle of a scam. Recently purchased extended warranty service on my HP Laptop 15-dy5113dx (9P714UA) (based on a HP promotion Link) and am now being asked to Register via an email from csncarepack@hp.com. Can anyone advise whether this is legit or not? HP Support is quite useless - basically its ChatBot response just refers back to the "official" HP website which says nothing.

Hi @YFNBC,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I completely understand how it can feel when you’re unsure whether an email is legitimate, especially when it involves something as important as your laptop warranty. Let’s walk through this together.

From what I can confirm, emails coming from csncarepack@hp.com are indeed part of HP’s official Care Pack registration process. When you purchase an extended warranty (Care Pack), HP requires registration to activate the coverage, and the email usually contains a link and an activation number to complete that step. This aligns with HP’s documented process for Care Pack Services .

 Safety Steps

  • Check the sender domain carefully: It should be @hp.com (not misspelled or with extra characters).
  • Hover over the registration link: Make sure it points to an HP domain (like carepack.hp.com), not a suspicious third-party site.
  • Log in to HP’s official warranty check page: Enter your laptop’s serial number to confirm if the Care Pack is already associated with your device.

I hope this helps.
