Hi, I have just bought recently the HP EliteDesk 8 Tower G1i Desktop AI PC and in the past month the systems has stopped working and freezes. Cannot open any files or folders. Doesn't let me to restart the system or refresh it. Have contacted support but this keeps happening. Any tips or ideas on how to resolve the issue?

Thanks

If it instantly turns off or freezes it is likely a hardware problem such as the video driver. It could also be caused by the CPU or GPU overheating.  Is there any particular application that is running when the problem occurs?

Can you monitor the temperature of the CPU and GPU (if any)?

If it is not associated with a particular application then it could be a number of things.

1 - Monitor your temperatures, use air duster frequently.
Coretemp is a good temperature monitoring app.

2 - Avoid turbo mode: In the Advanced Power Plan, set the percent processor utilization to %99 instead of %100 to prevent going into turbo. This can make a huge difference in temperature and very little difference in performance.

3 - Look in the event viewer for anything suspicious. It will help to clear the event viewer every now and then to make it easier to find the errors.
Suspicious: 1000s of identical repeated error messages, video board errors (kernel stopped responding)

4 - Memory. Run the windows memory test.

HP is removing cloud recovery for many systems over 5 years old. The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires. You may want to go here and get a copy of your cloud recovery before it is too late.

If the problem still occurs after the factory (cloud) restore then there is a hardware problem.

Hi, Many thanks for the reply, appreciated.

The PC is not overheating. I was working on an excel file but noticed that the file explorer froze and when tried to refresh/restart the screen went blank. I contacted the HP support when it first happened and they had me download an update, but after 10 days the same issue is happening again.

Had a look if I needed to update again but is showing up to date, so not sure what is going on. The PC itself is not even 3 months old so I am just wondering if I should request a replacement as I don't want to have to deal with the same issue every  10 days.
