HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-fh0000 (9F2C2AV)

I have hardware diagnostics UEFI version 10.8.0.0 and BIOS version 01.02.03.

I booted into diagnostics when the computer started and tried to update the diagnostics itself and the BIOS, in both cases I got an error.

When updating diagnostics I received the following error: Failed to download tar file from server. When updating the BIOS, I received a message that I already have the latest BIOS version. (although this is not true)

To provide more information, I am attaching logs:

Download the bios directly and run the install from inside windows.

It is always dangerous to upgrade bios. Unless there is a real need and the HP support assistant requests the upgrade, I would not do it.

The 01.03 is only a security update.

Check your warranty and decided if you want to risk a BIOS upgrade like these users did

=========UEFI==========

HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically.
When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics.
There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here
Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS',
Click the DOWNLOAD button.
The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button.
When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one.

Let me know what you find out.

I don't use Windows, and I even know that the BIOS can be updated via a USB flash drive. But I'd like HP to finally fix these errors... This address http://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/pcbios/8CDE/8CDE.xml should not respons with Not found.

Hello Newcode!

When you mentioned "tar" I looked for a linux OS bios update but only saw windows 11 in your specification.

You will have to update from inside the BIOS which you tried.   You may have to wait a while before this gets fixed.

Alternately borrow a Windows pc that you have admin rights on and download and create a USB install.  Boo t the USB.

Thank you for your answers. You're right. To update the BIOS manually, you need a second computer with Windows, on which you need to create a flash drive with the update for this laptop. That's how I used to update the BIOS. I created this ticket more to let people know that when buying HP computers, they'll get half-dead software, and that no one will fix any bugs. I bought this laptop when it was first released, and this problem has always been there.

Just to be clear, I performed the updates using HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. The error logs I provided were also taken from this software. I'm a IT professional, so it wasn't difficult for me to find them on my efi partition :)) Maybe someone from HP will see this and fix this problem that is in a laptop that costs a lot of money...
