Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my HP laptop where performance drops and the system starts lagging whenever I’m streaming HD video content. The laptop runs smoothly during normal tasks, but as soon as I open a streaming platform, the CPU usage spikes and cooling fans get loud.

I’ve already tried updating drivers, switching browsers, and adjusting power settings, but the problem still happens.

Has anyone experienced similar performance issues on HP laptops during streaming?
What settings or troubleshooting steps should I try to improve stability?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

Hi @timdavid0812,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

If you are experiencing performance drops while streaming videos on your HP laptop, follow these troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

Update Your Software:

  • Make sure your operating system, browser, and any related applications are up-to-date. Sometimes software updates can resolve performance issues.

Go to device manager

  • Display adapters
  • Graphics { go with the very first drivers}
  • Right click and click on uninstall
  • Don’t check the small box
  • Click on uninstall
  • Click on finish
  • Click on restart.

Check for Background Applications:

  • Close unnecessary applications that are running in the background to free up system resources.

I hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
