Hi @Desssi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Omnibook X 14" laptop is showing a black screen and isn’t charging, even though the charger adapter has power. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

Check Power Source

Plug another device (like a phone charger) into the same outlet to confirm it’s working.

If you’re using a surge protector or extension cord, try plugging the laptop charger directly into the wall.

Inspect Charger & Cable

Check if the charging brick or cable has any visible damage, frays, or unusual heat.

If available, try a compatible HP charger to rule out a faulty adapter.

Check Charging Port & Indicator Lights

Look closely at the charging port for dust or debris.

See if any charging indicator lights turn on when the charger is connected.

Perform a Hard Reset

Disconnect the charger.

Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain residual power.

Reconnect the charger and try powering on the laptop.

Remove External Devices

Disconnect all USB devices, peripherals, or accessories that might interfere with startup.

Try Power + Key Combination

With the charger connected, press and hold Power + Volume Up (or F12/Esc depending on model) for 10–15 seconds to see if the laptop powers on.

Check for Signs of Life

Listen for fan noise or feel for vibration from the hard drive/SSD when pressing the power button.

If there’s no sound, light, or heat, it may be a battery or motherboard issue.

I hope this helps.
