Hi @StudentStruglin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out! Let’s troubleshoot this together so your HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen works as expected with your HP Envy laptop.

Why It’s Not Working

Even though your Envy has a touchscreen, not all HP Envy models support active pen input. The pen requires:

  • Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) 2.0 support
  • An active digitizer built into the display

If the laptop only has a capacitive touchscreen (touch for fingers), the pen will not work.

Steps to Check Compatibility

  1. Check Your Model Specs
    • Go to HP Support and enter your exact model number.
    • Look for “Pen Support” or “MPP 2.0” in the specifications.
    • If it says “Touchscreen only” or “No active pen support,” the pen cannot work on this device.

  2. Test in Windows
    • Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Pen & Windows Ink.
    • If the pen is detected, you’ll see customization options.
    • If nothing appears, the screen likely does not support active pen input.

  3. Charge and Pair the Pen
    • Fully charge the pen.
    • If your pen supports Bluetooth buttons, pair it via Settings → Bluetooth (this only enables shortcut buttons, not writing).

If Your Laptop Doesn’t Support MPP

Unfortunately, the pen will not function for writing or drawing. Your options:

  • Use the pen with a compatible HP device (Spectre x360, Envy x360, or EliteBook with MPP support).
  • Or consider a capacitive stylus for basic touch input (not pressure-sensitive).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
