HP Notebook 15-dy1043dx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello! I have had this laptop for about three years now. Yes, I know this laptop is old. I have been getting pop-ups on my laptop about other laptops being on sale, but I don't have the money to buy one at the moment. That wasn't my problem, though; my problem is that at times, this website:

hpsa-redirectors.hpcloud.hp.com/Common/npcRedirectorPage.asp?PNumber=192L0UA%23ABA&PName=HP+Notebook+15-dy1043dx&PL=KV&Country=US&Lang=en&Context=isadminstrator&sOID=29322771&Source=HPSA9.47&NextUrl=

It keeps popping up multiple times while I am on my browser, even when I click the 'X,' and it pops up about ten times before it stops for a while, and I'd like to know how to prevent it from happening, please. I had gone into the browser settings and set the link as blocked for doing popups and redirects, but it's still happening.

@DaejaTay, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

This issue with repeated pop-ups from HP Support Assistant (HPSA) usually occurs when HPSA is misconfigured or outdated.

What’s Causing the Pop-ups?

The URL you mentioned (hpsa-redirectors.hpcloud.hp.com/...) is part of HP Support Assistant’s backend. It typically opens when HPSA tries to show product offers, updates, or support links. If it’s popping up repeatedly, it may be due to:

  • A corrupted HPSA installation
  • Misconfigured notification settings
  • Background tasks triggering the redirector multiple times

Steps to Fix the Issue

Step 1: Uninstall HP Support Assistant Completely

  1. Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Find HP Support Assistant and HP Support Solutions Framework in the list.
  3. Uninstall both.
  4. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\ and delete the HP Support Framework folder if it still exists.
  5. Restart your laptop.

Step 2: Reinstall the Latest Version

Download the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the official HP site: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Follow the installation prompts and allow it to detect your device.

Optional: Disable Pop-up Notifications

After reinstalling:

  1. Open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Click the Settings icon (gear ⚙️) on the left toolbar.
  3. Under Notifications, disable:
    • “Show pop-up notifications”
    • “Show tray icon alerts”
  4. You can also disable promotional messages under Messages tab if available.

Advanced (Registry Tweak to Disable Popups)

If you're comfortable editing the registry, you can disable popups manually:

Reg.exe ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Hewlett-Packard\HPActiveSupport\HPSF" /v NotifyTray /t REG_SZ /d 0 /f

Reg.exe ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Hewlett-Packard\HPActiveSupport\HPSF" /v NotifyPopup /t REG_SZ /d 0 /f

Caution: Always back up your registry before making changes.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!

Thank you so much! Apologize for taking so long to reply to you. I have done what you told me, with some resistance here and there, but I managed to download and install the latest HP support, which now works correctly. Now it is only a matter of waiting and seeing if the popups occur, but since they happen at random and don't really follow a pattern, I'll mark this as solved.

Thanks again!

@DaejaTay, You're very welcome! 😊 No worries at all about the delay, I'm glad to hear you were able to work through the steps and get HP Support Assistant reinstalled successfully. It’s great that things are stable for now, and marking it as solved makes sense given the randomness of the pop-ups.

If they do return, feel free to revisit the registry tweak or reach out again. You’ve done a solid job troubleshooting this!

Best regards,
Max3Aj
