@Spursman, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding a Stuck Height Adjustable Stand!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If the height adjustable base is stuck down and you are unable to raise the screen to a comfortable height, follow these steps to potentially resolve the issue:
Steps to Fix a Stuck Height Adjustable Stand:
Ensure the Computer is Powered Off:
- Turn off the computer properly through the operating system. Make sure it is completely powered off to avoid any accidental damage.
Position the Computer:
- Lay the computer on a soft flat surface, such as a blanket or towel. This will help protect the bezel and screen surface from scratches or damage.
Inspect the Mechanical Parts:
- Check if there are any visible obstructions or debris around the stand mechanism that might be causing it to stick. Gently clean the area.
Lightly Lubricate the Stand Mechanism:
- If the stand appears to be stuck due to friction, you can apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of the stand mechanism. Avoid using too much lubricant, as it can attract dust and grime.
Attempt to Adjust the Stand:
- Holding the sides of the display, gently try to lift the stand to see if it releases. You may need to apply steady and even pressure.
Check the Locking Mechanism:
- Verify if the locking mechanism, or any release levers, is properly disengaged. Sometimes, the stand may not raise if the lock is in place.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
