Hello, I am trying to assist someone who recently purchased an Omnibook x laptop and cannot connect to words with friends either through the google play app, the Facebook app, or through wordswithfriends online. Even the support page will not load properly. It is connected to the Internet and I tried both Microsoft Bing browser and Google Chrome. It started to access the website on chrome but after finally being able to attempt logging in through that browser, the login failed and connection to the support page failed and gave the same “Hmm…can’t reach this page” error as Bing.

Since I cannot access support through words with friends, I thought perhaps I could find some general Hp support/suggestions here. Thanks in advance!

Hi @SkyeCissial,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for explaining the situation clearly! If the OmniBook X laptop is connected to the Internet but cannot load Words With Friends (via Google Play, Facebook app, or even the website), and you’re seeing “Hmm… can’t reach this page” errors, this points to a network or DNS issue, not the game itself. Here’s how to troubleshoot:

Step 1: Verify Internet Access

  • Open another site like hp.com or bbc.com.
  • If those load fine, the issue is specific to Zynga/Words With Friends servers or DNS resolution.

Step 2: Clear Browser Cache

  • In Chrome:
    • Settings → Privacy → Clear Browsing Data → Cached images and files.
  • Restart Chrome and retry.

Step 3: Check DNS Settings

  • Sometimes DNS causes “can’t reach this page” errors.
  • On Windows 11:
    • Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced Network Settings → More Network Adapter Options.
    • Right-click Wi-Fi → Properties → Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
    • Set DNS to: Preferred: 8.8.8.8
                          Alternate: 8.8.4.4

(Google DNS)

Step 4: Disable VPN or Proxy

  • If a VPN or proxy is active, disable it temporarily.

Step 5: Flush DNS Cache

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Run: ipconfig /flushdns

Step 6: Test with Mobile Hotspot

  • Connect the laptop to a phone hotspot.
  • If it works, the issue is with the home router (firewall or DNS).

Step 7: Update Network Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager → Network Adapters → Update driver.

Or download the latest drivers from HP: Official HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
