Hi @king2long,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 15-fd0000 laptop running Windows 7 is now locked with an administrator password set by someone else, and you need to regain access. Here are safe steps to resolve it:

1. Try Password Reset Disk (if available)

If you or your brother created a password reset disk, insert it and follow the prompts on the Windows login screen to reset the password.

2. Use Another Administrator Account

If there is another administrator account on the laptop:

Log in with that account.

Go to Control Panel → User Accounts → Manage another account.

Select your locked account and change the password.

3. Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Restart the laptop and press F8 repeatedly before Windows loads.

Choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

At the command prompt, type:

net user [username] *

Replace [username] with your account name.

Enter a new password when prompted.

Note: If Safe Mode is also protected, this method may not work without recovery media.

4. Use Windows 7 Installation/Recovery Media

Boot from a Windows 7 installation USB or DVD.

Choose Repair your computer → Command Prompt.

Use commands to enable the built-in Administrator account:

net user Administrator /active:yes

Restart and log in with the Administrator account (default has no password) to reset your account password.

5. Last Resort: Reinstall Windows

If none of the above works, you can reinstall Windows 7.

This will remove the password but will erase all data.

Make sure to back up your data using a bootable USB Linux live drive if needed.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
