I just purchased two HP 5 Series 24" monitors (524sa).  After unboxing, I couldn't tell if th screen had a protective shipping plastic that needs to be removed.  Does it have one?

Hi @524sa,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for checking. The HP 5 Series 24" Monitor (524sa), yes, the monitor does come with a thin protective plastic film on the screen when shipped.

What You Should Do

  • Gently inspect the edges of the screen under good lighting.
  • Look for a slight tab or liftable corner, usually on one of the bottom or top edges.
  • If you find it, peel it off slowly to avoid leaving adhesive residue.

This film is meant to protect the screen during shipping and should be removed for optimal clarity and performance.

⚠️ Important Note

If you're unsure whether you're seeing a film or the actual screen surface:

  • Do not use sharp tools to pry it off.
  • You can also check the bezel area; the film often wraps slightly over the edge.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
