Hi @msgtaylor

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Here are the steps you can follow to resolve the issue with your Omnibook 5 laptop not accepting your user PIN in Windows:

Check Keyboard Input

  • Ensure the keyboard layout is correct (for example, English US).
  • Confirm that Num Lock or Caps Lock is not interfering with the PIN entry.

Restart the Device

  • Restart the laptop and try entering the PIN again.
  • Sometimes a simple reboot clears temporary glitches.

Use Password Instead of PIN

  • On the login screen, select Sign-in options.
  • Choose Password and enter your account password to access the system.

Reset the PIN

  • After signing in with your password, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  • Select PIN (Windows Hello) and choose Remove.
  • Restart the laptop, then return to the same menu and set up a new PIN.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Install any pending updates and restart the laptop.

Run Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Windows Hello PIN (if available) and run the troubleshooter.

Safe Mode Test

  • Restart the laptop and boot into Safe Mode.
  • Try signing in with your password, then reset the PIN from there.

Verify Account Sync

  • If using a Microsoft account, ensure the laptop is connected to the internet.
  • Sometimes PIN issues occur if the account cannot sync properly.

By following these steps, you should be able to regain access and reset your PIN successfully.
