My HP OmniBook Ultra Copilot+ PC restarts often when I attempt to screenshot while in full screen. It has occurred both when using PrtScrn and Windows+Shift+S, though it doesn't always occur.

Hi @Ravo32 ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OmniBook Ultra Copilot+ PC restarts when you try to take screenshots in full screen. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Update Graphics Drivers

Install the latest Intel/NVIDIA/AMD graphics drivers using HP Support Assistant or the vendor’s site.

Outdated drivers are the most common cause of restart issues during screen capture.

Update Windows and Snipping Tool

Run Windows Update and install all available patches.

Open Microsoft Store and update the Snipping Tool app to the latest version.

Disable Hardware Acceleration in Apps

In browsers or video players, turn off hardware acceleration in settings.

This prevents conflicts when capturing full‑screen content.

Test Alternate Screenshot Methods

Try using Xbox Game Bar (Win+G) or third‑party tools like ShareX.

If these work without restarting, the issue is isolated to PrintScreen integration.

Check Event Viewer Logs

Press Win+X and open Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System.

Look for critical errors at the time of restart to identify if the GPU driver or kernel is failing.

Update BIOS and Firmware

Install the latest BIOS update for your HP OmniBook Ultra from HP’s support site.

Firmware updates often resolve restart loops tied to hardware events.

Run System Diagnostics

Restart the PC and press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

Run a full system test to rule out hardware faults.

I hope this helps.
