Laptop has slowed down all of a sudden, not sure why it cuts on slow very slow to respond to clicks, it even takes chrome about 15 seconds to load up when it was instant. I have an intel i3 8gb ram laptop. I performed a factory reset and the issue is still there. I ran a memory diagnostic and it tells me that it passed so I'm not sure what could be the issue can anyone help me out to solving this issue ?

@Zha32, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Slow Laptop Performance!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Update Drivers and Windows:

  • Ensure all drivers are up-to-date, especially those related to the graphics and system chipset. HP's support site usually provides necessary driver updates.
  • Check if your Windows operating system is up-to-date.

Check for Background Processes:

  • Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to review current processes. Look for any unusual CPU usage or memory consumption.

Disable Startup Programs:

  • Disable unnecessary startup programs through Task Manager to improve boot time.

Run Disk Cleanup:

  • To free up space and remove temporary files that might be slowing down your laptop, use the Disk Cleanup utility.

Check Hard Drive Health:

  • If your laptop uses a HDD, run a health check to verify it's functioning properly. Tools like CrystalDiskInfo can provide insight.

Perform Malware Scan:

  • Use trusted software to perform malware and antivirus checks to ensure malicious software isn't affecting performance.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Ensure your power settings are configured for best performance rather than energy saving.

Update BIOS:

  • Ensure the BIOS is updated to the latest version as suggested by HP for optimal performance.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
